Church in the Park this year…

In the last 12 months at Church in the Park we have seen people come to salvation, experience the baptism of the Holy Spirit, and witnessed a series of miraculous healings, including -

  • A little boy who could not stand upright and dragged himself around using his arms can now stand and walk – his mother gave his testimony at Church in the Park
  • A friend of ours who had long-term visual impairment testified to her eyesight being so improved that she was no longer under threat of losing her driver’s license
  • A man with a long-term shoulder problem who could not lift his hand past his shoulder was immediately and completely healed after responding to a word of knowledge
  • A woman with torn muscles under her rib cage was instantly healed after responding to a word of knowledge
  • Another lady received the baptism of the Holy Spirit as soon as we laid hands on her and prayed
  • A man at our last event gave his life to the Lord, completely undone in tears of repentance.

Praise God!

We are looking forward to great things in 2012 – our first event will be Saturday, 4th February at 12 PM in Bigge Park, Bigge Street, Liverpool here in Sydney.

Ministry in Nicaragua

ministryNicaragua is a beautiful country beset by enormous political, economic and social problems.

Not the least of these is a growing problem with street gangs and the violence that comes with it. Major street gangs like MS-13 and the 18th Street gang have established an increasing presence here in recent years, and this ministry trip has been specifically aimed at reaching some of these young men with the gospel.

My cousin Amy has been ministering to the street gangs here in Nicaragua and in neighbouring Honduras for a number of years, and this is my third trip here to minister with her. On previous trips I preached and gave my testimony in street churches, prisons and in the barrios to gangs that Amy had contact with.

This time the Lord has been using me to reach specific gang members who Amy has had contact with in the past.

On Tuesday we ministered to two young men in one of the barrios. One was a local gang member, the other an ex 18th Street gang member.

I shared my testimony with them and had the opportunity to pray with them individually. As I did, the Lord really touched them and gave me words of knowledge specific to each of them, and both were moved to tears.

God is drawing them both back to a commitment to him. It’s not easy to turn your back on gang life here, you immediately become a target, and opportunities for employment are very limited for ex gang members.

On Wednesday I ministered to an ex gang member from south-central LA who was deported after a prison sentence in the USA.

I could sense that his heart was open for the gospel, and I shared my testimony with him and invited him to receive Christ as his Lord and Saviour.

Praise God, he responded and gave his life to Jesus on the spot!

I also had the opportunity to share with a large group of teenagers from a Baptist church in one of the barrios, and as I gave my testimony and invited them all to commit their lives to Christ, I saws tears in the eyes of several as they prayed through the prayer of salvation.

It’s been a very fruitful trip, and I’m so thankful to the Lord for using me in the ways he did.

Prison Ministry Update – Sydney
January 23, 2011

Today Kerry and I ministered at a women’s correctional centre here in Sydney in back to back chapel services.

Kerry shared on the fragrance of the Lord, and how His presence can supernaturally invade our senses at the most unexpected moments. I followed up with the scripture in 2 Corinthians that speaks of us becoming the fragrance of Christ to God, and how that presence in our lives can reach out and change those around us.

How we don’t have to earn a right standing with God, that it is His grace that changes and transforms us as more and more of His presence is released in our lives.

Seven of the girls responded to the altar calls by giving their lives to Christ.

Hallelujah!

I am looking forward to my ministry trip in 2 weeks time to Nicaragua in Central America. My cousin Amy Johnson runs a ministry there called Gangs for Christ, ministering to gang members in the barrios and prisons in Managua, the capital of Nicaragua.

This will be my third ministry trip there, and we are looking forward to seeing many young men come to Christ!
